Noah Kindler and Arad Rostampour founded SocialShield in 2009 after Noah spoke to a friend of theirs whose daughter had inadvertently found herself to be hounded by more than 80 adult men on facebook when her dad put up vacation photos of his family, one with them all in bathing suits. Arad also noticed people sharing somewhat private information with a semi-public group of friends and thought the idea of helping parents keep kids safe was important. They joined forces to use technology to provide a solution to parents.

Arad, previously an executive at HP and the youngest Distinguished Engineer in the company's history, holds degrees from Stanford, Purdue and Wharton.

Noah, educated by Stanford and Harvard, has experience at social network companies as well as at McKinsey and Co. in the Technology Group. He is also a recent father.

They spoke to a few highly experienced and financially successful friends about financing the venture and, shockingly, every single one jumped in with angel financing along with the two highly respected venture firms Venrock and US Venture Partners (USVP).  It was the mission of keeping kids safe and parents in touch with their kids that was most attractive to everyone.
